The seas continue to settle, and the weather is warming, a high of 54F today; almost warm enough to sit out on the balcony, but everything is crusted with salt as the cabin steward has not been able to get in and hose things down. Rougher seas, colder temperature and rain are forecast for tomorrow – ah back to normal. I’m going to try for a few laps around the deck this afternoon. Today I did my required Covid test and once again the result was negative, Sandra will test again later tonight. Sandra tested positive – ugh! I took a walk around the ship and captured some images to share - see below. Late tonight the ship changed course and headed towards St. Johns in Newfoundland, Canada; once again we had a sick passenger who had to be taken out by coast guard helicopter. I was most impressed that the pilot could bring in the helicopter when the fog was so dense, the captain later said visibility was barely 200 yards. Even though the approach was on our side of the ship (port) we could not see a thing from our balcony window as the fog was so thick – we were not allowed to go put on the balcony. The helicopter hovered above the ship for a good 25 minutes before finally hauling up the patient and heading back to Canada; I hope the passenger is OK. The captain also mentioned that the helicopter crew had missed their dinner in order to respond to the call, so he had the executive chef on the ship prepare some food for them and it was also winched up.
