Thursday, February 2nd, 2023 Queen Victoria, at sea

The temperature has dropped a bit, which I don’t mind – and it’s not yet cool enough to bring the Brits in from their sunbathing loungers out on the decks. I’ve discovered that the bar in the Commodore Club serves Theakston’s Old Peculier, an ale from my college days – I’m enjoying it immensely. The internet on the ship has never been very good and, while they have improved the wireless signal coverage around the ship, the data rate is severely limited by the satellite connection that is required while at sea. Today, however, the internet has essentially been down for most of the day – very frustrating. The frustration is somewhat offset by the fact that we get a gigantic discount on the price of the internet package because of our status as Diamond members; internet for the entire 101 night voyage cost us about $100 each, an $800 discount each.
